Description

Fürer, F.A.: Salzbergbau- und Salinenkunde

This work is intended as an introduction to the study of salt and forms a new edition of Bruno Kerl’s Grundriß der Salinenkunde, first published in 1886.
Following many publications in technical journals and after studying the most recent patents, F.A. Fürer has augmented Kerl’s Salinenkunde and divided it into two parts.
The first part deals with deposits, qualities and formation of common salt, brine and salt beds, as well as with salt extraction in different countries, legal aspects, the use and taxation of salt.
In the second half the focus turns to the extraction of rock salt and of potassium and magnesium salt and their preparation, and finally examines the chemical analysis of salt and brine. The text is accompanied by numerous illustrations.
